Intermediate-Level Rueda Group, where you will learn to dance different Rueda formations:

  • Rueda de Casino
  • Rueda Cruzada
  • Rueda Avenida
  • Rueda Ilanta

This is a new and exciting challenge for all Rueda enthusiasts who want to seriously test their focus, attention and reaction speed.

To join the course, you must be able to:

  • Keep a steady rhythm
  • Perform the basic Rueda calls correctly
  • Move confidently around the dance floor (you should not just stay in one spot)
  • IMPORTANT: The course requires an equal number of men and women, and participants can only join in an even M/F ratio. Priority will be given to those who purchased the course earlier.

Rueda Cruzada

In Rueda Cruzada, two “groups” dance Rueda within the same circle. The circle is divided into two groups, with every other couple belonging to a different group. The leader is in Group 1. Group 1 always responds to the calls first, while Group 2 follows them like an “echo.”

The groups change partners only within their own group and dance on different beats of the music. Group 1 (primeros) usually dances on the first beat (beat 1), while Group 2 (segundos) dances on the fifth beat.

Rueda Cruzada requires an even number of couples, preferably 6 or 8. It can also be done with a larger circle of more than 10 couples, but this is slightly more challenging – especially if confusion arises and you need to count again so everyone knows which group they belong to: primeros or segundos.

Rueda Cruzada can be danced from the beginning of a song all the way to the end. Alternatively, you can start with a regular Rueda de Casino and then transition into Rueda Cruzada. The transition call is “cruzado,” which is always given from an open position.
